Michael Malione - Founder & Director
Michael is a graduate of Harvard University with over twenty years experience as a STEM educator. He is a Bay Area native and father of two who has served on his local school district Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and the Middle School Site Council. His mission with Cogito Learning Center is to support and enhance school or at-home learning using sound, proven educational practices that ignite student curiosity and nurture individual growth.

Sugi Sorensen - Co-Founder
Sugi is a graduate of Harvey Mudd College whose professional career as an Engineer and IT Executive makes him uniquely qualified to help STEM students accelerate their learning with a focus on achieving the level of mastery to gain acceptance to top-ranked college STEM programs.

Deb Fillman - Literature, Logic, ELA & History Tutor & Course Instructor
Deb is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education with fifteen years experience teaching and tutoring students online in grades 3-12. She is also a former classroom teacher and veteran homeschooling parent of three who is dedicated to improving education one child at a time. Deb brings her subject matter expertise in English Language and Composition, Literature, Geography, World and U.S. History, Art History, Logic & Debate to Cogito students.

Jackson Temple - Math Tutor
Jackson is a senior at UC Berkeley, majoring in Data Science and Industrial Engineering. A native of Piedmont, he brings a deep passion for coding, mathematics, and writing. With several years of tutoring experience in the Piedmont community, Jackson excels at simplifying complex concepts and fostering a collaborative learning environment. He’s eager to continue helping students excel in subjects like programming, calculus, and essay writing.
